A Botball Match

You have picked an opponent, a stadium, a Bot team, and you’re ready to start your first Botball game. Click on the Play button and the game begins!

As you can see, there are five bots in your team. You control these bots by giving them simple goals (instead of detailed commands); that is, “move in that direction”, “interact with targets in that area”, etc.

Controlling a Bot

While you’re controlling a Bot, you can order it to move, attack or seek the ball, by clicking on the target you want your bot to interact with (the ball, another bot or an area on the playing field). Your bot will follow your commands until you give it new orders, or the command given is no longer applicable (for example, seeking the ball when your bot already HAS the ball).

When you give your bot a command, it will follow it on its own; all you have to do is point at the target, and your bot will interact with it as best it can.

Check the Controls section for more details on controlling a bot.

The Bots

Each of your bots has different pros and cons that make it stand out in some aspects of play (such as moving, scoring, fighting, etc.) and not as effective in others. You can check your bots’ stats in the stats menu; but you’ll have to experiment with your bots to get a feel of their strengths and weaknesses.

The Stats section of this guide has a detailed description of every bot module and its associated stats (accuracy, attack, speed, etc.)

Winning

A match lasts a set time. When this time has elapsed, the team with more goals is the winner! Every time you win a live botball match against another player, it’s forever recorded in your profile for other players to see.

…And that’s it!

Now you know everything you need to know to play Botball. Try a couple of more quick matches, and when you’re ready for a more immersive experience, you can try a beta challenge tournament, or even build your own team of bots, deciding their strengths and weaknesses yourself, at the Garage.

Have Fun!
