Botball Background

Of all races and species in the universe, only five have evolved to the supreme point where they are able to create life on their own. These five races, collectively known as the Parama, are:

• The DEVA, light beings that have evolved to a spiritual state beyond mortal flesh;
• The MANA, cybernetic entities, owners of the most advanced technology in the cosmos;
• The SATTVA, primal elemental beings, connected to the forces of life itself;
• The SHIVA, energy warriors that have developed the strongest power source in the universe;
• And the VASHA, invisible spirits with the ability to travel between worlds by their own means.

Through their incredible advancements, these five races have built a network to remotely exchange information, goods and thoughts, from world to world and from mind to mind; through this network, they have collectively achieved the creation of mechanical life; the resulting life form was called the TOKA.

The Toka

The Toka, the Parama’s ultimate achievement, are a race of sentient, intelligent robots that serve as both their creators’ children and servants.

Toka bots are mechanical, modular entities; despite being artificial, their creators gave them each an individual life force – known as atma. All toka bots are made up of five identically-interacting modules, according to the universal pattern developed by the parama:

• A head module, hosting the Toka’s intelligence and personality,
• A body module, hosting its energy core,
• A motion module, giving the Toka its mobility and motor functions,
• An arms module, allowing it to interact with its surroundings,
• And a weapon module, which is not part of the Toka’s being itself but can be attached through its ‘links’ as an extension of its will.

Atma

Atma, the soul of a Toka, is located in the four links that join its five modules together; these links, called ‘Khanda’, are:

• The Head Khanda, joining the head and body modules,
• The Center Khanda, joining the body and motion modules, and
• The Twin Khanda, joining the left and right arms to the main body.

Energy source

Currently, the most advanced energy source used to fuel Toka bots with Atma is the Node Power developed by the Mana people; thus, all five Parama races use Node-powered Toka. It is, however, rumored that the other four races are currently in the finishing stages of developing their own alternative energy sources; particularly the Shiva, whose Supreme Source has already produced the first few blast-powered Toka bots.

The Game

Through their Toka offspring, the Parama constantly test new models, functions and evolution for living beings; this test takes the form of a sports game where two teams of Toka face off and use their physical and mental characteristics as weapons and techniques against the opposing team. This is the origin of Botball.

Currently, Botball is not only the Parama’s main test lab; it is also their favorite pastime, and their main method to solve conflicts and disputes.

Every world in Parama space has its own botball team, with a constantly evolving Toka lineup. These teams have their own identifying names, colors and fans, which they proudly display inside and outside the field.
